Vitality Women's Physical Therapy and Wellness Series at Prenatal Fit

Workshop series that  highlights posture building exercises, diastasis rectus abdominal rehab, and pelvic floor strengthening. Led by Vitality's Board Certified Women's Health Physical Therapists.

Sunday, January 29:  Anne Cumming, SPT, RYT
Workshop #1: "BACK" to Basics
This workshop will discuss the normal changes in anatomy and posture during pregnancy and what we might see postpartum. We will highlight nursing/bottle feeding posture, baby and toddler body mechanics and carrier use. We’ll have demos in the studio but we recommend you bring your own carrier (and baby) to get some hands-on practice and advice.

Sunday, February 5: Christi Christian, PT, DPT, WCS

Workshop #2: Will I EVER Get My Belly Back?!
After having your baby, have you ever thought that you still looked 3-4 months pregnant? This workshop will highlight the diastasis rectus, an abdominal separation that commonly presents in pregnancy and can persist postpartum. We will discuss why it happens, how to test for it, self management techniques to help it reduce and exercise do's and don'ts. Be prepared to learn some basic exercises to start you on your way to getting your belly back.

Sunday, February 12: Jennifer Sergeant Hungate, PT, DPT, MS, WCS

Workshop #3: Did I JUST Pee My Pants?!

Do you pee when you sneeze, cough, laugh or jump? Do you have difficulty making it to the bathroom on time? In this workshop, we will discuss the anatomy of the pelvic floor, common bladder and bowel conditions, postpartum recovery of the pelvic floor and how to address pelvic floor weakness. We’ll teach you to do Kegels the best way after baby.

Sunday, February 19: Christi Christian, PT, DPT, WCS

Workshop #4: Let's Talk about Sex (after) Baby
Are you hesitant or even scared to return to intercourse? Most, if not all, women feel that way after having a baby. This workshop will discuss common issues women have after delivery like perineal tears, c-section scars and pelvic floor muscle dysfunction that might make intercourse less fun than it used to be. We will highlight why it is important to address delivery scars and strategies to address them on your own. We’ll also review the importance of good pelvic floor muscle function. Hopefully after this workshop the only barrier to intercourse is a good nights sleep.
