Wednesdays with the Women of Vitality: Karen

If you’ve been following our blog reboot, you’re probably familiar with “Wednesdays with the Women of Vitality” series.

Up until this point we’ve featured our owners and physical therapists, Jennifer Hungate and Amy Pawlik.  But now it is time to put a face to the first voice you will likely hear at Vitality, Karen Vertovec.

Meet Karen: Your first encounter at Vitality

How and why did you decide to work for Vitality?

I was drawn to the idea of working at a clinic specifically designed to treat women. And the fact that Vitality is owned and run by two very smart, amazing women is the icing on the cake!

What did you do before starting Vitality?

After graduating from Northwestern University, I worked as a senior project editor for a college textbook publisher. This was followed by 25 years as a stay-at-home mom and freelance editor. I then spent several years working at a small PT clinic before joining the Vitality team in 2016.

Describe Vitality in 3 words.

  • Compassionate
  • Vibrant
  • Patient-centered

What makes Vitality different than other places you have worked?

Working at Vitality, I feel like a valued part of a hard-working team. I also appreciate the focus on work-life balance.

What advice do you have for women who are contacting Vitality to consider beginning Physical Therapy at our clinic?

Take a deep breath and give us a call! So many women that I talk with have put off physical therapy because they have questions or concerns that they are hesitant to discuss. Please know that everyone at Vitality will make you feel comfortable with every aspect of the physical therapy process.

When not in the PT clinic, you can find me…

…watching Northwestern football and Marquette basketball or attending a concert with my husband. We also love spending time with our three adult children and their spouses, which includes frequent visits to Milwaukee and Boston.

At Vitality, we help women be at their best by specializing and treating disorders related to pelvic and back pain, bladder and bowel dysfunction, and restricted movement. Together, we’ll develop a personalized treatment plan to help you relieve your aches and pains, and support your body.
